ROTATING ELECTRICS

The starter motor is one of the most important parts of a car.  It is used to start the engine and if it fails the engine won't turn over.  The starter motor may need replacing if it’s not turning fast enough or if the part is seized.

Signs of a faulty starter motor:

  • The engine won't turn over and vehicle won’t start

  • Smell or see smoke when starting the motor

  • Grinding or whirring noise when starting the engine
  • Starter engages but doesn't spin the motor

  • Sporadic starting issues

  • Interior lights dim when starting the car

The alternator plays a key role within the electrical systems of a car and when the alternator starts to fail it can create an array of problems.  Like many other parts on a car, the alternator is susceptible to wear and tear. The rotor and brushes won’t last forever and eventually the alternator will need repairing or replacing,
